The official “No More Freezes” date is northwest Arkansas in April 15th. Of course, there are no guarantees. In 2013, it snowed on May 3rd!
So it’s almost an act of faith to bring out the pots and hanging baskets that we’ve wintered over (and not killed) and add new flowers and other plants. After 11 years of trial and error, we favor hardy splashes of color like geraniums and begonias, coleus and sweet potato vines. Thanks to our forest-like setting, almost every area is “part shade.” And then there’s the deer factor – i.e. we try not to provide a smorgasbord for them!
Here’s how our grounds look right now. Better make a reservation and visit soon while everything is still alive 🙂
